A native of south Mississippi, Julia moved to Memphis to spend a resident year with the Martin Institute for Teaching Excellence after graduating with a B.A. in English Education from the University of Mississippi. After her resident year with Martin Institute, she moved to Power Center Academy to teach 11th grade English and AP Language and Literature. During her four years with PCAHS, she has served as Content Lead, Master Teacher, and RTI Chair. She earned her M.Ed. in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in Leadership from Christian Brothers University in 2015.
Julia has studied extensively with Harvard University’s Project Zero and is currently a member of the 2015 cohort of Stanford University’s Hollyhock Fellowship Program. Julia has focused her study on strategy instruction and culturally responsive teaching. She will serve as the Instructional Coach for PCAHS during the 2016-2017 school year.
